Disciple Bible Study

Disciple One: Becoming Disciples through Bible Study

Imagine a small group experiencing together, learning together, and growing in faith together as they travel from the creation story of Genesis to the prophetic text of Revelation. Your life will be changed by this powerful experience. This is the Foundational course,  where you begin your learning as you read and reflect on 3/4 of the Bible over 35 weeks with daily reading, study material in a workbook and weekly class time with a small group of other learners.

Disciple Two: Into the Word and Into the World

This 32 week study focuses on four biblical books: Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts. During this study participants are encouraged to open themselves to hearing what God has to say to the through the Bible and to be guided into their particular ministry in the world by their study of Scripture.   Prerequisite Disciple One

Christian Believer: Knowing God with Heart and Mind

What we believe as Christians matters. As the church we have inherited a body of beliefs called ‘doctrines.’ This class will explore the origin and purpose of these doctrines by reading scripture and the writing of early church fathers. Questions will be explored such as such as :What does it mean the Jesus is Lord? What does it mean that we are saved? Prerequisite Disciple One

10 week Study The Prophets and Kings of Israel

This is a fascinating series filmed in the Holy Land. You will explore the era of the Kings and prophets of ancient Israel, the ancient world and pagans practices, and the struggles of Israel during this time period.

DISCIPLE One and Two ORIENTATION INFORMATION

Disciple bible study classes meet weekly for 1 1/2 hours. Your class will begin with a video of a scholars views on your lesson, so it is important to arrive on time. Then your group will review the lesson together. On your first class meeting you will review a document called 'Principles for Bible Study,' this contains the guidelines for your study, primarily we agree to respect one anothers views and honor each other.

What you will need: a study Bible - we recommend NIV or NRSV translations. This is a big investment but a good study Bible can last your lifetime!

How to choose a study Bible: It is best to take time to peruse many study bibles, either at the church library or bookstore. Take time to look up your favorite passages and then read the editors comments. Be sure and look at the content in the back of the Bible, there may be a dictionary, concordance and maps, all designed to help your learning.  Still not sure: feel free to contact Rev. Linda Truitt for further guidance.

Childcare: We offer childcare for all classes, but this requires registration of your child at the beginning of the year.
